Genius of Britain
Monday, 24 May 2010
This major new series from Channel 4 and RDF has a dream team of presenters: Stephen Hawking, Richard Dawkins, James Dyson, David Attenborough, Robert Winston and more, tell the story of the great British scientists and inventors of the last four centuries. It's a lot more exciting than it sounds!

The Restaurant Series 3
Tuesday, 25 August 2009
Series 3 is set in Bristol and has a much more urban feel to it. I have written a whole new package of music, although some of the old tunes will survive. That's rather sealed the fate of ever releasing an album though, as it would be too long and confusing, however, I am planning to put mp3s of most of the tunes onto the web very soon.

Jamie's American Road Trip
Tuesday, 25 August 2009
"Jamie Oliver is setting off on the culinary journey of a lifetime as he travels around the USA for his new six-part series, Jamie's American Roadtrip, to be shown on Channel 4 this autumn. But the series is more than a straightforward cooking and travel series - as Jamie delves deep into the social issues and diverse cultures of 21st Century America. The result is unpredictable, often challenging, but ultimately heart-warming and entertaining television."
I composed the title music.

Oops TV
Tuesday, 25 August 2009
From the official blurb: "[Featuring Justin Lee Collins,] OOPS TV is a modern take on the blooper show that takes a look at the best TV out-takes, home videos, CCTV shockers, sporting bloopers and YouTube shenanigans from all over the world. From newsreader nightmares to internet wedding dances to the world's funniest pets, if someone somewhere has done something funny and it's been captured on film, then it's game for OOPS TV."
Each of the stings was composed to picture, mickey mousing every action and blink. I was assisted by Guy Pearson who also wrote some of them.

Emergency In The Womb
Tuesday, 25 August 2009
This 1 hour doc, produced by ZKK, opened the new Cutting Edge season on Channel 4 and followed the life and death stories of critically ill babies undergoing radical surgery in the womb. The unborn twins featured in the programme were suffering from a very rare condition, Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome and film featured some remarkable CGI of pioneering laser operations.
The film was directed by Sara Tbbetts, edited by James Gold and commissioned by Simon Dixon - three very good reasons for me to work on it! The music features some wonderful playing by Emlyn Singleton on violin and Mary Scully on double bass.

The Apprentice - new music and Comic Relief
Wednesday, 11 March 2009 For the new series I have completely remixed and, in some cases, re-written the main music cues. Currently we're about half-way through the production, with episodes 1 - 6 almost completed.
Tomorrow BBC1 airs Comic Relief Does The Apprentice - Alan Carr, Jack Dee, Jonathan Ross, Gok Wan and businessman Gerald Ratner go head-to-head with Ruby Wax, Patsy Palmer, Carol Vorderman, Fiona Phillips and businesswoman Michelle Mone in a battle to create a special mystery product. If you're watching very carefully you might just spot me working on the jingle for the boys' team...

The Restaurant Series 2
Saturday, 11 October 2008
Why I'm not releasing an album of music from the series:
After series 1 I was overwhelmed with requests for an album (especially after it was shown it the States) but, despite a lot of enthusiasm from the BBC and EMI, I couldn't get a commitment to release it. When work on the new series started they were very keen to go ahead with the album, but then we found out that the production wanted to change all the music, which left us unsure as to what would go on it. In the end, I felt that fans of the music from the first series would be disappointed, and fans of the second series would be confused. If there's a third series then I may reconsider it. |

Real Gods
Friday, 15 February 2008
Real Gods is the first short feature by young British director Martin Desmond Roe, whose previous work includes the award winning video for Mark Ronson's version of the Radiohead classic, Just.
It's a stunningly shot, swords and sandals epic, set at the end of the Roman Empire, with an epic, orchestral score to match.
The film will be released later this year, and will be entered into several international festivals. Please check back for more news as I have it. |

The Apprentice Series 4
Monday, 4 February 2008
The new series is now in production and is shaping up to be another classic. Expect laughter, tears, shouting and
ineptitude on a massive scale!
You have to wonder if these people have actually learned anything from the previous series... Musically, I have
written a number of new cues, plus arranged several tracks from recent Hollywood movies, and I also act as Music
Supervisor for the show. |

Aliqua
Wednesday, 30 January 2008
Aliqua are a nine-piece all-girl vocal group from Vancouver. I am currently producing and arranging six tracks for their
debut album for Nettwerk Records (for whom I also produced the Mediaeval Baebes' Album, Miralbilis).
It's an eclectic mixture of classical and contemporary, with percussion, string quartet, hammered dulcimer and ukelele,
ranging from the ethereal beauty of On Suuri, to the utterly bonkers Three Ways To Vacuum Your House Pt 1.
I recorded much of the instrumentation and vocals in Vancouver, in November 2007. Since then I have been working
on the arrangements and production at my studios in London and LA.
The album will be released in September 2008. |

America Unchained wins award
Friday, 4 January 2008 Dave Gorman's new film for More 4, America Unchained won the audience prize at the Austin Film Festival in October 2007. It features an eclectic and quirky score, using a wide range of instruments including accordion, zither, slide guitar and baritone saxophone, all played by myself.
This is probably my favorite score so far, and it was an absolute pleasure working with Andy Devonshire (director), Mark Sangster (editor), and of course Dave himself.
